Discover the last piece of the Amazon Rainforest in Central America! Corcovado National Park comes up with a variety of animals and plants that are otherwise rarely observed. It is home to over 130 species of mammals, 100 species of reptiles, 6000 species of insects and over 400 kinds of birds. Beside this you can find 500 species of trees and bushes and 150 species of orchids.
You can see for example tapirs, pumas, crocodiles, dears, all 4 species of monkeys you can find in Costa Rica (capuchin, howler, spider and squirrel), wild boar, scarlet macao, guans and countless other species of birds. Also snakes, butterflies and reptiles can be detected from you guide. National Geographic Magazine called it the most biologically intense place on Earth and it is the most visited place of the area.

6. Corcovado National Park (Station San Pedrillo), hike with boating

The closest station in the Corcovado National Park from Drake is San Pedrillo and it is located directly at the beach. We accompany you to our private landing site. Here you will be picked up at 06:00 a.m. and at 2:00 p.m. deposed again. The boatride last about 35 minutes. Explore the Park from here during an 3 hour hike. After that we invite you for a picknik. Further on you will visit a spectacular waterfall where you can go swimming and refresh yourself. Back to the station you also have the opportunity to visit toilets and replenish water.  Against 1:30 p.m. you’ll start the return journey.

7. Corcovado National Park (Station Sirena), hike with boating

We accompany you to our private landing site. Here you will be picked up at 06:00 a.m. and at 2:00 p.m. deposed again. The a bit more than 1 hour lasting beautiful speed boat ride along the coast takes you to Sirena beach. Here you combine your approx 5 hrs. hike. The paths are well developed and they are plain. Please carry enough water, do not leave the way and stay with your guide. At the Park station you will take a brake for a Picnic, you also have the opportunity to visit toilets and replenish water.  Against 12:30 p.m. you’ll start the return journey.

8. San Josecito Beach

It is a very scenic beach with white sand, which is not very far from Drake Bay. If you are looking for relaxation, San Josecito Beach is the indicated place. It is a very popular spot for picnics, snorkeling and sunbathing as well. There are two possibilities to reach this place, one is walking by yourself and the other one is taking a boat. Although, the boat ride might seem easier, walking all the way to San Josecito which is much more beautiful might take around 2 to 3 hours, maybe even more depending on how long you stop to observe wild animals on your way. If you are lucky you can see different kind of monkeys, scarlet macaws, tamanduas, etc. Another interesting combination could be walk there and come back by boat, which takes around 20 minutes. So you get to experience both ways of enjoying this picturesque area. During the period you might be able to see dolphins and whales on your way.

9. Caño Island, Snorkeling

Caño Island is located 20 kilometers offshore from the Osa Peninsula, it is a tropical paradise, surrounded by five platforms of low coral reefs with many coral species, which is home of many species and colorful fish. It is a day trip leaving at 07:30 a.m. and coming back around 02:00 p. m. The boat ride to Cano Island takes around 1 hour. You will snorkel at two different locations to explore this fascinating underwater paradise. Your tour guide will point out the different species which will delight you. It is possible to see, whittip reefsharks, different species of turtels, snapper, jacks and uncountable species of reeff fish. Staying close to your tour guide is essential, due to security (by law you must wear a life-jacket in the boat and while snorkeling) and also to make the best out of this trip. On your way to Cano Island you might be able to see dolphins or whales depending on the period.

10. Caño Island, diving

Caño Island is located 20 kilometers offshore from the Osa Peninsula, it is a tropical paradise. It is one of the best places for diving in Costa Rica from mainland and it is a unique experience which will let you explore Costa Rica from an amazing perspective.
This is a day trip which starts around 07:15 a.m. from our private landing site. The tour guide will take you to two different locations, also depending on your experience and the conditions. After 1 hour boat ride, we arrive at Cano Island. After a small stop you prepare yourself for your first immersion. After descending on a rope your 45 minutes underwater stay will let you observe a lot of different kind of tropical fish, reptiles and sea mammals. While doing the safety stop maybe an oceanic manta, whale shark or humpback whale is passing by. During your surface break you will visit Cano Island, water and cookies are provided. In the second immersion maybe white tip reef sharks, sting rays, huge school of snappers or barracudas let a diverse heart bump higher. What a dive a day! You have lunch in the boat, a beautiful beach or in a restaurant. You will be back at MOHAGINE around 2:00 p.m.

11. Dolphin and whale watching

The ocean near Drake Bay is full of many marine species. The resident dolphin specie is the spotted dolphin which you could encounter throughout the year. Bottle nose and spinner dolphins are also common visitors. It is also common to observe humpback whales from August to October. Pilot whales, orcas and false killer whales can be seen throughout the year.
Observing dolphins and whales in their natural habitat is an amazing experience. This is a day trip leaving around 08:00 a.m. and coming back around 01:30 p.m. to 02:30 p.m. This trip includes picnic, water and snacks. A professional tour guide will accompany you to provide you with the most useful information about dolphins and whales, the guide will also tell you the most curious details about these species. If you are lucky you could also see turtles on your way or even the dolphins playing around the boat. Please be aware of sea sickness. Minimum of 4 people is required.

12. Horseback riding to the waterfall

This is a very nice tour to a spectacular waterfall located in Los Planes. It starts around 08:00 a.m. and lasts for at least 3 hours. On your way to the waterfall, you will experience the first and secondary rainforest, while observing a great diversity of species. You will be able to ride the horse through the river on your way to the waterfall. Once you are at the waterfall, you could refresh yourself. You will be accompanied by a local tour guide who knows the area very well. Minimum of 2 people is required.

13. Horseback riding to San Josecito

This is a very beautiful tour to the scenic beach of San Josecito. The trip starts around 07:00 a.m. and lasts for about 6 hours. On your way there you will be able to experience the primary and secondary rainforest as well as crossing a river, which altogether will enrich your adventure. Once you are in San Josecito Beach you will be able to sunbathe or refresh yourself, this tour includes a picnic. On the way back a boat will take you, which will let you enjoy the unique view of the area, depending on the period you may be able to see different species of sea mammals. Minimum of 2 people is required.

14. Kayaking

It is a challenging and recommended experience in Drake. There are some options to do it.
The first one is the possibility to kayak by yourself by renting a kayak. The kayak center is located at the beach. It is a very nice idea if you already have some experience and would like to test your knowledge in a different place.

Rate: 10 US $ per hour p. p.

The second one is to kayak in Agujitas River for around 3 hours, a minimum of 2 persons is required. Agujitas River offers a very impressive scenario which will delight you. It would not take you long to get there and you will for sure enjoy this trip. During your tour you may observe different animals which will make your trip even more exciting.

15. Mangrove/wildlife tour in Sierpe

This tour will you take you into the “Estero Azul” which is a small creek from Sierpe River. It is a very biological diverse place, which is home of many bird species. You will explore the largest virgin mangrove forest in Central America, while observing different kind of monkeys, crocodiles, raccoons, snakes, etc. It is a very easy and entertaining tour, while sitting in the boat and observing the beauty, refreshment is included. A minimum of 2 people is required.

16. Floating tour

If you are looking for an adrenaline tour, this one might be a very nice idea. You will discover more closely the primary rainforest by hiking to a waterfall, where you will have to chance to swim for half an hour. Then you will be floating down the river and reach Rio Claro beach where we will have a snack. It lasts for about 5-6 hours. A minimum of 2 people is required.

17. ATV Tour to Waterfall

18. Canopy in Los Planes

You will be picked up from your hotel to drive to Los Planes, you will also be brought back to MOHAGINE. Once there you can enjoy the amazing view of the primary and secondary rainforest in the area. You will have the opportunity to see all kind of animals and insects, from monkeys to scarlet macaws, toucans or sloths. A bilingual tour guide will accompany you, before doing the actual canopy, you will practice and listen to security advices. There are 13 stainless steel cables suspended from the trees across the rainforest, most of the platforms are 60 meters high, the cables range from 100 to 400 meters. Safety is one of the main priorities of this tour. Fruits and beverages are provided. The pick-up times are 7:30 a. m. – 10:30 a. m. – 1:30 p. m. During the high season additional times are available.

19. Stone Spheres Museo Finca 6

It is a pre-Columbian and also very modern museum located in Finca 6, Sierpe. This place combines History and jungle. The pre-Columbian stone spheres are the main attraction, they are suspected to have been created by native tribes. They are unique in the world. This archeological site has been declared UNESCO World Heritage. In the museum the information is available in english and spanish. It is a very worth visit if you would like to know more about Costa Rican pre-Columbian history. You could visit this museum if you have some free time in Sierpe, maybe during your waiting time to take the boat to Drake.

20. Mangrove tour and Finca 6
